Smart Screen Off PRO it’s a simple and light app which uses the Proximity Sensor built in your Android smartphone to turn the screen off and on automatically.
I decided to code this app when I bought my Galaxy Nexus: this device doesn’t have any physical button on the front screen. Being a quite huge phone, it’s quite difficult to press the «turn off» button every time I wanted to turn it off and on. So I needed a way to turn the screen off every time I put it into the pockets and off when removed.
The app itself is a toggle button, to switch it on just press the App Icon. Then every time you put the phone into your pockets the screen turns off.
If you put the smartphone upside down on the table, the screen turns automatically off.
NOTE: It doesn’t lock the screen (just like in a call)
In order to use Smart Screen Off, you need to have a phone with Proximity Sensor and Light Sensor (nowadays every smartphone incorporate both).

Proximity delay timer only works once on initial startup after that there is no delay. Disable sensor in landscape mode again only works properly once after which it prevents the phone from going into landscape mode at all. That being said it is useful to be able to implement a screen off function that works with the sensor in portrait mode for when I am out on walks with phone in a case and using my map app.
The proximity delay function is not working exactly as you mentioned in the user guide. The proximity sensor is very sensitive and any movement to access the notification panel turns off the screen. Kindly address the issue as soon as possible otherwise a brilliant app.
Light sensor feature doesn’t work. Author says it’s because Samsung got a batch of bad sensors, but the sensors work fine in other apps. Sounds like a b.s. excuse to me
This app was working, but ever since the last update, it has been a serious drain of my batter—33% of my battery usage was coming from this app. Will try it again after the next update and see if the problem remains, but in the mean time I have to do without. Otherwise, I love the app. I can just close my flip cover and the screen will turn off, then turn back on when I hope the case again.
After recent HTC/VERIZON update the screen doesn’t go off. It just flashes on and off. Fix this and I’ll give a better review. Also, when I uninstalled the app, all of the apps I had placed on my phones pages were gone, apps that I had removed were back and the wallpaper had been changed.
Tried nearly every «proximity/gravity» based app to turn on/off screen and keep coming back to this one. Paid for PRO, works almost perfectly. except a bit excessive on battery (sometimes makes my phone hot) and really needs the ability to turn on/off service from the notification so can do certain activities without constantly having the screen turn off when I don’t want it to. When you wave your hand over the sensor it works great. What I really want is if when I wave my hand over the sensor the second time it turns back on. Not just if something isn’t covering it.
Good application, can included smart on? My phone with flipcover, when the flip closed to the screen my screen goes off. If add automatic on application, when flip open i need the screen goes on. It’s best future.
This was once a five-star app but it’s fallen behind its competitors, lacking basic functionality like the ability to turn the App on and off directly from the status/notification bar. I wrote the developer suggesting this feature but received no reply even though I paid for the Pro version. I also see my complaint is shared by at least one other reviewer. It’s all very disappointing and leaves me debating whether to install it on my Note 3.
Bad, heats the phone up and runs the battery down in no time. Half of the different functions don’t work. How about a refund?

The proximity delay works immediately after activating it, then it stops working. ALL other pro features don’t work at all. Motorola droid razr m.
Seems to work well. A delay for locking the screen would be pretty awesome. Also making it easier on the battery would be nice

Начало работы
При первом запуске утилита Smart Screen On/Off запросит права администратора, разрешение на отрисовку элементов поверх системных и парочку других разрешений. Это, впрочем, стандартный процесс для подобного рода приложений, иначе у них не было бы таких возможностей по взаимодействию с системой и ее компонентами.
Далее мы остаемся на основном экране один на один с предоставленными возможностями и параметрами по их настройке.
В основном разделе у нас располагаются следующие функции: «Shake Sensor», «Proximity Sensor», «Pocket Sensor» и «Smart Flip Cover». Думаю, по названиям вы уже поняли возможности каждой из них. Тем не менее, краткий рассказ не помешает.
Благодаря опции «Shake Sensor» мы сможем разблокировать и блокировать устройства встряской. Просто задаем количество «сотрясений» гаджета (от одного и до шести), и он выполняет указанное нами действие.

Можно активировать функцию и для разблокировки, и для блокировки устройства, при этом возможность использования обоих параметров у нас не отнята. А для избавления от случайных движений, например, во время нахождения устройства в кармане, рекомендуется включить параметр, добавляющий датчик приближения.
Помните, как в одной популярной рекламе показывали, что мы будем взаимодействовать с мобильным, не прикасаясь к его экрану? Хоть и отчасти, но это свершилось.

Еще есть опция «Pocket Sensor», позволяющая автоматически блокировать телефон ложа его в карман или экраном вниз. Это уже зависит от настроек и версии самого приложения.
«Smart Flip Cover» позволит использовать соответствующий чехол, «Double Tap Screen OFF» будет выключать экран по соответствующему жесту и далее по списку.
И чтобы процесс включения и выключения устройства не был таким однообразным, нам предлагается установить соответствующие анимации и звуковые эффекты. Это мне напомнило аналогичные параметры в старых прошивках CM. Очень необычно сейчас увидеть анимацию блокировки экрана в стиле выключения старого телевизора.
К сожалению, визуализировать вышеуказанное мне не удалось, поэтому стоит просто довериться моим словам, либо проверить сказанное уже на практике.

Настроек в приложении Smart Screen On/Off немного: автоматический запуск программы при включении устройства, активация уведомлений, вибрация при включении/выключении и пара дополнительных опций.

Проблем с использованием Smart Screen On/Off не фиксировалось. Программа довольно-таки правильно отвечала на встряску, магическое проведение ладошкой над экраном и прочие функции. К тому же, практически у каждого из параметров были настройки по корректированию действий, что добавляет точности при срабатывании.
Порадовал низкий расход аппаратных ресурсов: приложение потребляет около полусотни мегабайт ОЗУ, что, поверьте, не так уж и много для подобного рода решений. Но вот расход заряда АКБ… Если активировать все функции и активно пользоваться аппаратом, то программа в итоге будет расходовать 5-10%, как в случае со стендовым устройством. Многое зависит и от количества включений/выключений с ее использованием.
Выводы
Smart Screen On/Off – интересная программа, предлагающая множество параметров для разблокировки/блокировки устройства и настроек работоспособности. Она стабильно и довольно точно распознает наши действия и не доставляет лишних проблем при использовании. И в этом отличается в лучшую сторону от своих аналогов.
